Stop Telling Me How To Diet -- You've All Got It Wrong, Wrong, Wrong
I'm really sick of well-meaning family and friends telling me HOW to diet. As if I haven't read every diet book ever published and tried deprivation of every variety of food -- high-carb, high-fat, low-fat, organic, caveman, cavewoman, cave bear. You name it, I've tried it.
Then there are the doctors. Oh, please!
"You really need to loose weight."
"Try exercising five days a week."
"Three days a week."
"Once a week."
"At least think about exercise." (I made this one up.)
To all these so called experts, this I wish to say, EAT IT!
This site is about losing weight without dieting. Been there, done that.
I will share with you my "School of Hard Knocks" insights into losing weight without dieting and I hope you'll post your comments here to share your experiences with me.
Rather than slogging along alone, we can all use this web site to find alternative ways to weight loss and in the process make some 'virtual' friends.
If you see another post we ought to link to or an article elsewhere we ought to highlight, please let me know. You are invited to send photos and recipes and diary logs and anything else that will help teach and inspire us.
Think of this site as the anti-diet weight-loss center.

I agree. I feel that weight loss is pushed upon us way too much by the tv, the newspapers, friends we know, family, etc. People are obsessed with it. It gets old. I was kinda obsessed about it too for the longest time. I've been in a struggle to maintain my weight loss for about 7 years now and have drove myself nuts over it. Of course I'm trying to be sane about it and I agree that dieting is stupid. It's boring too. People were meant to eat a variety of foods not limit themselves to just one food group like that extreme fat smash diet plan claims a lot of weight loss (dont know the exact number of lbs) but it eliminates a lot of food from the plan in order to lose this weight. it kinda tempted me at one point to try it cuz i get desperate sometimes. But I think one of the days of the plan calls for all fruit and nothing else. and then all vegetables in one day and nothing else. then on the third day I believe it's slowly introducing other food groups. I cannot stand plans that eliminate protein cuz I get soo hungry for meat!

You are so correct about that Fat smash Diet by the Dr guy from Celebrity Fit Club. People in the real world have to live in it and we don't have the luxury to have private cooks like them. And, if you look in that book. the food that I like are the foods that I can't eat and the foods that I CAN eat are the ones that I do not like. I am trying to find a website or a book that will help me with a diet or better way of eating so I can enjoy foods that I like(the picky eater) Some books say to eat lots of Tomatoes or artichokes or B Sprouts; problem...I do not like these foods. And, the only fruit that I CAN eat are apples..as I don't like Kiwi or Mango or grapefruits. UGH!!! oh...I can't cut my meat out. I also want my meat!!!

Over the past few months I have joined and then canceled a variety of online weight loss programs. The main reason I did not continue is the complexity of the diets and the cost of buying all that food. The diet books are the same. Who cooks different complex meals 3 times a day and changes every day? I once spent over $200 on groceries for one week and this was for one person. To add insult to injury, I did not like or enjoy most of the food that was recommended and was still hungry after eating it because my satisfaction level was so low. When I eat what I want and enjoy, I find that I am satisfied for a longer period of time and do not still have cravings after eating.
So.. I really think you are on to something here and I look forward to participating. Thanks!!
